Registration from an International Jurisdiction (Substantial Equivalency)

Registration from another Jurisdiction (International) is defined as a practitioner who believes that they are Substantially Equivalent to the level of practice at the emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Primary Care Paramedic (PCP), or Advanced Care Paramedic level, and is seeking to have their credentials recognized in New Brunswick through the Substantial Equivalency Process. The purpose of this process is to ensure all practitioners entering from another jurisdiction other than Canada are evaluated equally and fairly.

All applicants will be evaluated against the most current approved competency framework that all New Brunswick paramedics are educated through (currently the National Occupational Competency Profile), 

The Paramedic Association of New Brunswick has employed expert assessors from across the country, who are educated to investigate and assess information from candidates to provide advice regarding the level of equivalency, gaps in education or experience, and to assist in developing a pathway to licensure, where at all possible.
