News Release
Line of Duty Death
October 20, 2010
FROM THE PARAMEDIC ASSOCIATION OF CANADA
It is with deep sadness that I inform you that we have lost two British Columbia Paramedics yesterday in the line of duty.
Information at this time is limited, however I am able to offer the following information provided by BCAS last evening.
“It is with the utmost sadness that I must advise you that the bodies of two of our BC Ambulance Service (BCAS) paramedics were recovered from Kennedy Lake at 1540 hrs.
We are not at liberty to release the names of the paramedics who tragically lost their lives in the line of duty until their next of kin have been notified. At this time one family has been notified and we will continue to work with the RCMP to track down the second family.
We greatly appreciate all of the support and condolences offered from each of you and your organizations as we work our way through this very stressful and challenging time.”
We have been in contact with our colleagues at the Ambulance Paramedics of BC to offer our sympathies and support. As well we have initiated contact with the Canadian Paramedic Benevolent Society and the EMS Chiefs of Canada. More information will be shared on this site as it becomes available.
Sincerely,
Chris Hood
President
Paramedic Association of Canada
