Paramedic Integration Process

The Integration Process is designed to ensure that new registrants into the profession have not only the cognitive knowledge required to be in the profession, but as well a process exists to ensure that the affective competencies (what they think, feel, and their opinions about professional related topics) are further developed and evaluated.

It is the obligation of the Paramedic Association of New Brunswick to protect the interest of the public and the profession by ensuring that unqualified and unprofessional practitioners are excluded from the profession, and to take steps against existing practitioners that do not meet the professional expectations of the Association.

Based on the above, and based on the approval of the Department of Health and Wellness, the following processes be implemented immediately to meet these obligations:

  • Successful completion of a pre-registration written examination (Exam Schedule);

  • A Probationary Period equal to 1 year, during which time there shall not be any credible Professional Practice or Professional Misconduct complaints filed against the registrant;

  • Prior to the completion of the probationary period, submission of (3) three letters of recommendation for full licensure, from existing members-in-good-standing of the Association, in a prescribed format provided by PANB.

  • The costs associated with the proposed process, exclusive of registration fees for the calendar year 2010 will be $300.00 for the provision of the written examination.
